About Charak Diagnostic Centre

Our Story

Four decades of diagnostics

Charak Diagnostic Centre began as a small pathology laboratory and grew, department by department, into a centre that can complete most diagnostic questions in one visit. That growth was deliberate rather than opportunistic: each new service was added only once the centre could staff it properly and report it to the same standard as the last.

Today the centre runs pathology, radiology, nuclear medicine and cardiac investigation alongside preventive health check-ups and home sample collection. What has not changed is the operating principle — the value of a diagnostic centre is not the machine in the room, it is whether the treating doctor can trust the number that comes out of it.

Quality & Safety

How we protect the result

Quality in a diagnostic centre is mostly invisible to the patient. These are the parts that decide whether a report can be trusted.

  • Internal quality control on every run

Control samples are run alongside patient samples, and a failed control stops the run rather than being noted and passed over.

  • Barcoded chain of custody

A sample is barcoded at the point of collection and scanned at every handover, so there is a record of where it has been and who handled it.

  • Reference ranges recorded with the result

The range used to flag a result is stored with that result, so a report read years later still means what it meant on the day.

  • Radiation safety as routine, not paperwork

Dose is kept to the minimum that still answers the clinical question, and every operator works to a documented protocol.

In memory of our founder

Late Dr. Ratan Kumar Singh

Founder, Charak Diagnostic Centre

Dr. Ratan Kumar Singh founded Charak Diagnostic Centre in 1984 and built it around a single idea: that a diagnostic result is only worth anything if it is accurate, on time, and explained to the person who has to act on it.

He is no longer with us. The standard he set is the one the laboratory still works to, and it is the reason four decades of patients have brought their reports back here.
